Landscaping

Well, some of the landscaping we worked on earlier this summer wasn't finished, and some didn't fill in like we had hoped so after a nice vacation, we decided that it was time to get to work and get things looking good before we both had to go back to school and work! We moved stuff around our flower beds, removed the dead tree (to be replaced next year), put wood chips around the trees, AND FINISHED THE PATIO!

Oregon Coast Trip

Day 5: Well as all good things, the trip had to come to an end! We woke up and said our goodbyes and headed home. On the way we were instructed to stop at the waterfall....which turned out to be a collection of 3 amazing waterfalls! We took some really fun pictures! We took a break in Boise by visiting the fam' and having dinner and made it home about 11pm.

Day 5: This morning we got up and went to the Portland Temple. Unfortunately we didn't think to bring temple clothes....it was going to be closed while we were there and then we stayed an extra day! After taking some pictures there, we visited the Rose Test Gardens, stopped at The Cypress for a little arabian style type lunch (or so we think) and headed back to Dennis and Marsha's. It didn't take us long before we were out the door to our next adventure Street of Dreams, where we got to see some amazing new homes. The night was finished off with some wave running on the river and chillin' at the park. 

Day 4: As I often say, Ben is all boy! Therefore, it was no surprise when he wanted to go fishing on the trip. We checked it out and going out on a charter boat wasn't too horribly priced, so he scheduled to go out and I decided to hang back at the beach house and take a stroll around the streets of Rockaway Beach. Ben's excursion didn't turn out as well as he hope...he got a little sea sick; however, he did bring home some fish to fry!  After he got back, we relaxed a little and drove to Portland/ Oregon City. Dennis took us to an amazing restaurant called Gustauv's. It's german cuisine and the Jagershnizel was amazing!(spelling...who knows?) Oh, not to mention the swiss fondue....mmmm! Definitely a place to go back to! These are the best pictures from the fishing trip....

Day 3: We decided to take it easy, since it was Sunday. Slept in, went to church with the little Rockaway Beach Branch, and drove back to Seaside. I left out that we did that on day 2 as well! They have a boardwalk and tons of shops with fudge, ice cream, taffy, souvenirs, etc. We decided to take a few nicer pictures of us to put in the house and had a great relaxing day!

Day 2:   We got up on good time to drive up along the coast. Dennis and Marsha took us to see the tide pools at Hug Beach. They were filled with star fish and anemones! There was also some great caves. After Hug Beach we were off to Fort Clatsop; where Luis and Clark had a fort and we got to see some demonstrations. By then it was about lunch time so we continued our journey up to Cannon Beach and Mo's for lunch! I tried clam strips for the first time and they were amazing! Next we visited the Astoria Tower. 164 tightly wound steps straight up and we were at the top to shoot off out airplanes! Following was a visit to the Flavell House, which is a very old, very nice mansion of a long ago charter captain! We couldn't leave without driving over the long [ 4 miles ish] bridge, so we did that and then headed on the twisty road home.  Needless to say, by the end of the day we were whooped!

Wow! We are so blessed! Since Ben and I had a few more days before we both go back to school, we decided to take a trip the the Oregon Coast. Little did we know we were going to get the grand tour!

Day 1:   We met my Aunt Marsha and Uncle Dennis in Tillamook. There we visited the cheese factory, had icecream, saw the Cape Meares Light House, and the octopus tree. We ended of the night with dinner, a walk on the beach at sunset, and falling fast asleep at the beach house.
